What's the story with these on diesels people?
I've had differing views on these; some people say that a performance dump valve can be fitted to the CDTi and some say not.
Will it improve the performance?

You can fit a dump valve to diesels but there isn't really much point - unless you want to look like a chav!! As Diesels have no throttle valve (Inlet direct to cylinders) you won't get the closed throttle pressure build up of a Petrol Turbo and therefore no gains/advantage. You won't even get much of an increase in the psst sound if that was something you were after.

I'm after more Power!
Am I sensing some hostility on the site today or is it just me, anyone?????
I'm not hostile AJA!
I'm not keen on the idea of dump valves... our cars are too sophisticated for that!! How about Anti-Lag D, could that be fitted to Diesels or Petrol Turbos????
What that mate?
Must be me then. ;-)Originally Posted by ABYSS

Re the Anti-lag - not much use on a diesel (I believe) as diesels have no throttle valve (Inlet direct to cylinders) you won't get the closed throttle pressure build up of a Petrol Turbo and no point in a dump valve. The turbo in a diesel will have a wastgate in it (different thing to a dump valve).

Both Tunit and Diagnostix seem to think that they have a dump valve and that it can be uprated. I think I need to do some research on this.
I could be wrong but I think Duncan is right here guys. It will make no difference to you diesel guys.
