I did something similar recently. What did I gain from it? I realised that I have taken some half decent shots although at the time I dismissed them as they weren't quite as I had "seen" the shot.
Sorry Ian but 'Those eyes'......... I just want to get my macro lens near them, great shot by the way.
my thought as well" those eyes"

Great pic, little critic if I may. Be careful not to blow the highlights on the the skin, looks very bright on my screen.
Really good job on keeping some separation of the jumper from the dark background, and great eye contact in the image. Those eyes really "pop"
Yeah there's definitely a couple of non-technically right bits about it. There is a quite badly blown area to the right of her nose as you look at the shot and round under neath that eye. I did correct it slightly in post but not enough, there's a few straggly hairs I probably should have taken care of too if I'm honest, but it was her "look" that made me process it in the first place, just total engagement with the camera that I loved.
Thanks for the comments guys

Been a long time since I did any portrait or studio stuff, too much pp required for what people want !
Was going to mention the stray hairs but didn't want to take it too far ..................
Just transferring stuff to hard drives and you've got me looking back over some really old stuff
