Default Autoleads Connector for Steering Wheel Controls

Here's a fun one for you...

I bought the Autoleads connectors for the sterring wheel controls but they wont work..

I put the autoleads vauxhall iso connector in and plugged it into the little black box thingy.. then plugged the alpine connector into the little black box thingy and there stereo wouldn't turn on. Unplugged the little white connector with the red and grey wires and the stereo came on.. am i doing something wrong?

Here's some pics of what i've got.. bear in mind i didn't plug the orange or black wires into anything.

(images are huge so here's the links)

i had the same problem with a connects 2 stalk adapter .i took it back to the store where i got it from and this little man came out with a 99p 12v tester poked around and the told me my wiring was duff .so i walked away and contacted connects 2 and took my car to one of their warehouses and a bloke there used a multimeter and found out that the loom wasn't supplying power to the adapter hence why it wasn't working he changed the power lead to the permanent live and presto worked and it's worked ever since

Did yours work when you left it all plugged in but unplugged the power to the adapter?

If i have the power connected the adapter.. stereo goes off.. unplug the power to the adapter, stereo comes back on.. It's almost as if the adapter is stealing all of the power or something.

apparantly the voltage drops down to 5v so the unit wont work, you need to conect a new supply from say the cig lighter to get it to work properly, or get a local ice installer to do it for around £30-40.

I'll find an alternative power source as my cig lighter is powering the photo frame.
