    Default Good Music Thread

I'm setting this up so ppl can post good music itho.

    I'm gonna recommend Blackmores Night.

This is Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple/Rainbow fame, along with a hot chick called Candice Night, if you like Rainbow mixed with Fleetwood Mac this is you.

Probably appeal to 35+ members and our ladies who like female vocal, all I can say is it blew me away, and I wondered why it's took me 10 yrs to listen to it.

Now recommend your own artists, and give an indication of it's genre and if possible history.

    Dragonforce

A fairly new up and coming British(based) band.
Have 3 albums out so far, the pick of which has to be Sonic Firestorm.
Very good Hard Rock, but with a touch of heavier/faster passages just to keep it interesting.
The guitarists are excellent, very fast but at the same time quite melodic in places, and the vocalist has a brilliant voice, actually sings instead of just shouting or grunting.
Also, not adverse to shoving in the odd ballady style track

There was a track from a long time ago that I've always liked.

Graham Bonnet ( ex deep purple ) - Night Games

    Thunder

Quite Bon Jovi-ish, but vocals are incredible, and lead guitar is out of this world. Never heard of hem b4, heard one random track on a rock compilation CD, and it was so good I went straight out to buy their 'best of' album.

Nevermore. Prog/metal with an exceptionally talented pair of guitarists. Singer is from the school of singing not growling, though his voice can be a bit of an acquired taste. They have everything from quiet and beautiful ballards right through to some very heavy moments of rocking out. They do a very different and very good version of "The Sound of Silence" too.

Muse. Chart bothering UK rockers hopefully everyone's heard of. If not, they've had a fair bit of chart sucess whilst still remaining very unpredictable. Just when you think you've got them pegged they hit you with something completely out of left field.

Dream Theater. Very talented prog rock band formed when the members were all students at Berklee College. If you like you're prog rock they're a must listen.

What's prog rock? I've been into rock & metal for the last 15 years, and unless it also goes by another name, I've never come across that genre. Any more mainstream stuff fit into that category too?

I was backstage with them a few mths ago, all nice guys and extremely tight as a unit, not a note out of place anywhere, another hidden gem really, and Dan's vocals are still right up there live.

Seriously? Where? I had no idea they were still going, let alone gigging. That's one show I would LOVE to go see.
