Default Only nipped out for a loaf of bread...

and got a tug from the rozzers! Fortunatly just a panda car, I was coming from the opposite direction out of the high street and it opens up a bit - still a 30 zone so should have thought about it really. I was doing something with a 6 in the figure.. If they had a laser it would have been a court job lets put it that way. Anyway, they swing round, catch up in their 1.7 diesel astra , lights on. Decided on the straight forward approach. I jumped out, they did and I just smiled and said "I was moving a bit there wasn't I?" They laughed, radio'd in black thunders details, looked at my licence, actually said we can tell you haven't had a drink (one thing I dont do is drink and drive - categoric) told me to go home. Very friendly guys.

Moral of the story I think is sometimes it's best to be straight forward with these guys - they have horrible stuff to deal with so as long as you play ball and dont try and be clever they will keep it in perspective.

Your spot on there mate.... you give a police officer lip and he'll make sure you have a worse day than he's having!!!!

If your honest a friendly you're more likely to get off with a warning!!

Absolutely. Biggest deciding factor for an officer as to whether you get a ticket or not, is your attitude.

Word of advice. If stopped stay in your car. If someone jumps out of the car it generally means they're looking for confrontation. It immediately puts us on our guard.
But as you found, honesty is the best policy!

i play ruggers with a couple of cops, they say when they come to your car the first thing they do is put you through the 'attitude test' - pass that and your half way there - unless you've just run over a bin-lid that is!?!?

I've never been stopped, but I guess it's pretty simple. Don't be a prat/confrontational/argumentative - if you know fine well why you have been stopped then don't try and play innocent with the officer (they hate that).

    Just all common sense really.

    Just be a normal person.
Easiest ways to talk yourself into trouble.....
    1. I pay your wages
    2. Haven't you got anything else better to do
    3. Shouldn't you be out catching real criminals
    4. Point your finger in my chest
    5. Do you know who I am (always a favourite of mine-because I never do!)
    6. I haven't got a phone (just as it rings from under his ar*e, where he's just thrown it)
    7. Wear Burberry, have a 27" exhaust and throw your Mac'Ds milkshake out of your window.
The list goes on. Just be ordinary.

    1. I pay your wages - A favorite of mine when taking calls from irate members of the public.... my response if I were brave enough and didn't mind risking my job would be "Your council tax contribution pays for about 1 hour of my time, if i let you shout at me for another 54 minutes will you feel like you've had your monies worth?!"

On a narrowly related note.... Passed my Police medical today "Fit for Duty"! Constable Jamie1979.. coming soon to a disorder near you!!!! I'm well chuffed!
