Default We Fancy getting a caravan

Okay guys, I know that there are few caravaners on here so after some advice.

We fancy getting a 2nd hand caravan for some cheap holidays now that we have a little un. But I've no idea what to look for when buying second hand, neither do I have any idea which are the best vans to look for.

Also what are the rough costs for a pitch for a week in high season?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

    Thanks

How about, you don't bother with a caravan,
save the money for nice b&b's
then you won't have to worry about buying new rear tyes due to the increased wear, the extra fuel you'll use, the reduction in speed because the thing wobbles around too much.

but the best thing about not owning a caravan, you won't sworn at and abused by all those other drivers you hold up on the country lanes doing 20mph.

i have nothing against caravans, just can't stand them or see the point.

Good luck to you though, in your search.

So you don't like caravans then mate

I must admit whenever I think of touring caravans now I think back to that top gear episode, where they damaged it on the way to the site, blocked a road trying to do a 3 point manouvre to turn around, and then set it on fire whist making Tea

    But Tony...

My parents own a large static caravan, 3 bedrooms, full bathroom, kitchen etc etc, it's sited at Eyemouth just over the scottish border, must say I love going up there, it's a great little drive to get there and so much to see and do whilst you're there, there's quite a few tourers get up there especially over the summer season, I'll see if my mam & dad know what a round about cost for a pitch per night is

I know there are alot of mixed views on caravan's but here is my bit:

1stly anyone who tows a caravan at 20mph on a country lane should not be driving!

I have owned a few caravans, if your looking at a cheap second hand one just make sure you get one you like with a practical interior that suits you, as long as it is not rotten or got damp or been in an accident i dont really think you can go to far wrong.
As far as pitch prices go anything from £2 to £16 ive found so far per night.

I understand where you are coming from, but as it's a lease car I don't pay for tyres etc
As for doing 20mph on country lanes.... sorry just not gonna happen!!!
