    Default Vectra C Trim Levels

    Morning All

I am close to buying (should get it Friday if the deal doesn't fall through) a 55 plate 1.9CDti SXi Vectra C.

I was wondering where I can find out what the different models and trim levels meant in 2005. Was the SXi the base model and if not what had it got extra over the basic model?

    Thanks again.

    Brian

That's exactly the car I bought a month or so back - not a base model, but not loaded with gadgets either. Basically, the bodywork is a bit different to the base model.
Externally, 2005 SXi's look pretty much the same as SRi - apart from the 16" wheels (17" on SRi).
A few items it has over the base model (I think): -
Air conditioning, electric wing mirrors, cruise control, 6 speed gearbox, front fog lights, sports bodykit & uprated suspension (ride is firm, but not uncomfortable).
No trip computer (I was a bit disappointed about that)

Also, to check if its 1.9CDTi [120bhp] or [150bhp], look at the badge on the back - 1.9CDTi means it's the more powerful version.

    Thanks for the reply Hideous.

I'm pleased about the stiffer rider as I had read of some children getting sea sick riding in the rear of cars with the standard suspension. I too would have liked the trip computer but you have to get what you can for the price.

On the test drive I was impressed with the car but I was surprised with the arm rest, especially when trying to apply the handbrake. I am hoping to get used to it but it did strike me as not being quite the right design for the car.

The armrest does hinge up out of the way if you don't like it - although I then tend to bash it will my elbow

The gits! They've put the rear light and the map lights in the SRi now, and the illuminated vanity mirrors. They're costing me £100

The position and height of the armrest always feels a bit strange unless you're tall enough not to rub your elbow on it. I don't notice anymore, but Mrs Oilburner (shorter than me you see) finds it a right pain.

Still, you can always move it upwards out of the way?

You do know that it slides forwards and backwards (the armrest bit)? Was it possibly slid forward and that would cause it to get in the way of the handbrake.

Thanks for all your help gentlemen. I see I need to have a look around and play with the car before I say any more.

No doubt I will be back soon with more questions but meanwhile thanks for everything.
