that were given to me, still in the box ( BNIB as is )

the question is B4 i take the door to bitz is, will they fit and will they sound better than the OEM speakers ( i presume they will

)

they are 45w 2 way 5 1/4 inch with a ' plus one ' cone , i think

now , i have read a thread were the speaker diamiter is 165mm , now this seems quite large and is 6 1/2 inches ( aprox ) can anyone confirm this ?

would i be better off getting some bigger/better ones ?,

bearing in mind i'm on a budget, and not into advanced ICE

They probably will sound a little better, but the source electronics i.e. your radio will have more of a bearing. I would change the head unit first and see what the factory speakers sound like (probably pretty good). They are also too small and will need adaptors to fit.

thanks for the comment,

but as mentioned, i aint into heavy ICE, the headunit is fine , and i would have to spend at least several hundred to buy anything better than it , and then i would have to buy speakers on top , not in the budget i'm afraid,

most i'm gona spend is £100 on some budget speakers, but better than the OEM ones

I changed the head unit in my Astra and was perfectly happy with the sound from the factory speakers. The standard 16.5cm units have just enough bass to sound OK with a more powerful HU. I had hundreds of pounds worth of DLS speakers in my old Citroen and they didn't sound that much better than the Astra ones.

A m8 of mine's just got one of these for his car.... looks like a damn good all rounder..and the screen is watchable too....and it fits into a single din slot. i think youll find the oem speakins in the vec are pretty damn good when a decent set is pushing through them

thanks for the input ladz, but i'm after speakers

not a head unit...

i'm getting distortion and little clarity from my OEM ones, and feel i need to upgrade them to some decent budget ones

That could just be the factory head unit being pushed beyond it's limits and distorting, rather than the speakers. As I said, the standard speakers will go plenty loud and with good clarity with a decent source*. Try and borrow a head unit from a mate and experiment first.
