    Default 2.2dti engine management

i have a strange problem which only happens in 5th gear.
during normal driving when approaching a hill as expected you need to accelerate to keep power but as soon as i press the throttle the spanner comes on on the dash and limp home mode comes into play.
So i turn off the ignition and straight back on again and everything is fine.
This does not happen all of the time but maybe once every two days or so.
The car is a 03 sri and totally standard with 47K on the clock.
    Any ideas, cheers.

This is where my problems started.

    So far;

New turbo, which is again knackered.
    Various 'Engine management' upgrades,
    Boost sensor,
    Vacuum Hoses,
    Boost Hoses,
    Wastegate and actuator,
    EGR Valve.

First of all, check and double check the security of the boost / charge hoses. Look for splits or any signs of movement. After that, it really is needle in haystack time. Try giving the EGR valve a clean out too. Undo the two bolts holding it on, then douse it in carb cleaner. Let it thoroughly dry before refitting and restarting, or you'll have some comedy clown car pops and bangs out the exhaust! Sorry I can't be much more help than that.

    Good Luck.

I hope this isnt the start of something big.

my 2.2dti has been an major thorn in my side.

    so far its had:

3 attempts to balance the wheels
    1 ecu update
    1 suspension mod
    1 new front hub
    1 water leak fixed
    1 sim card update
    1 demister fixed.

so I take it to exeter for a weeks holiday and the light comes on over 9 times in 5 days. took it to inchcape in exeter (nice ppl) and they say its has 4 codes present and they cant define which one has caused the problem. its booked in for next saturday, so I will let you know the outcome.

I wish I hadnt bought this engine though, this is my 6th vx in a row and its seems a lemon.

Goes like stink when its working though..........

UPDATE: i have had a diagnostic performed and get the code P0234 which means hose connections, wiring,tc wastegate regulating valve or tc wastgate.

I have thouroughly inspected and tightened all hoses/wiring and the fault still occurs.
Now were the actuator arm connects to the waste gate there appears to be signs of a leak ( black soot).
Has anyone any experience of this being repaired or is it going to be a new turbo ?.
    Cheers

    UPDATE-

the car went in for about the 10th time and it needed a new EGR valve, so they replaced that because it was causing the light to come on.

guess what.........the light still comes on.

Its going back in 2 weeks for a proper look..........dont you just love it.
