    Default Tyre Wear

Just looked at my fronts tonight by chance I noticed they are very close to the wear limit. They were put on the car when I bought it so have lasted about 5000 miles or so! I haven't driven it that hard, never really "lit them up" either. I don't drive like that.
Won't be putting them back on!
They are nexan 3000's by the way. Must have a very soft compound to keep the grip.

    225/45/17's here I come!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Watch out for the rears suddenly wearing out.

When we drove to Portugal, I left the UK with at least 2.5 mm before the wear indicators, reckoning by the way they had been wearing up to that point they'd get there and back quite comfortably and want changing when we got back.

Got as far as Bordeaux before I felt I needed them changing!! That was with just two of us and not a huge amount of luggage, 2 soft bags of clothes, 2 crates of Bud and a box of white!

Don't know. All I know is mine were there, then they weren't, all in about 500 miles...

I've got Nexan 3000 on the rear and they have lost about 1mm in the last 20,000 miles. Should be good for 100k!

I would suggest they are on the hard side of normal, especially when you have to listen to them wine all the time like I do.

Vredestein Ultracs. Best tyres I've ever put on a car. Transformed the handling in wet compared to the Bridgestone Potenza's I had before

It's interesting you should say this ... my front tyres on my 3.0 CDTi seem to wear VERY quickly as well ... I get more than 5000 but a heck of a lot less than I used to get from the fronts on my 2.2DTi

I wonder if it's to do with the weight and perhaps the ESP+ wearing the tyres out faster on these models?

I normally get 20k out of the fronts, but i'm on AVON ZV3's at the mo which I haven't had before. So far i've done 2k on them and they still look new.

The Vectra C is the only FW drive car i've had which tends to wear the rear tyres and brakes nearly as much as the front, must just be the way it's set up.

    Nexen 3000
    What size are they?
I can't find treadwear traction temperature, could you post that as well

The only ones I could find were 205/45R17 or 215/40R17 which is an awful aspect for the Vectra C
The are also 84W which is also a bit too low, ideally no less than 91W
At £25 a tyre I would be more than happy at 5K miles for front tyre wear!

It depends on your tyre fitting pattern...
My original front tyres wore out at about 12K miles
I then swapped rear to front, the next set of fronts wore out at 22K miles
    22K miles for a tyre isn't bad

However, if you only fitted new tyres to the front as and when they wore out then the life would be much less, the rear tyres would be on for quite a long time, possibly as much as 60K miles

I used to get 40K miles out of the Michelin HX MXM 205/55R16s fitted to both my Vectra SRi140 and Mondeo Ghia TDCI
However, the increase in tyre size, vehicle weight, engine weight, and engine power clearly means tyre wear on this car is going to be more
It's not as much as I thought it would be, although it is about the same as the old Vectra B GSi
