Thumbs up Calipers done, did someone say it's the holidays ?

Well just spent most of my days off on the car. Took the wheels off and gave them a right good going over by hand, got all the crud from the insides off with AG paint restorer, couldn't touch it with the other stuff I had kicking around, slooowwww, loath to try (acid etch) Wonder Wheels. Got a cheap pressure washer from local Morrisons store £25, bargain, then did the inner arches and brakes.
I then inspected the brakes, they were in pretty poor state considering it passed the 'network Q' tests when I bought it, might be getting a second opinion on the disks as I reckon they should be under the warranty. Took the pads out and cleaned everything all up, corrosion really gets hold of your brakes don't it, why don't manufacturers paint 'em , eh ? dabbed the odd bit of copper grease here and there and got the pads moving freely in the slots, (had to hammer them out). Then I set to work on the calipers with my Foliatec paint kit. Took me longer than I thought with my half inch brush, shame you don't get a brush with the kit, you won't ever use the brush again after you get this type paint on it, set's like stone, lol.
Two coats later, a long drying period, a bit of zinc bright galv spray on the pins and then a refit and I was back up & running again, road tested and no problems, phew, wife would have gone mental else.
Quick wash and polish this morning and....... jesus, where's the long weekend gone. Oh yeah and get this, after all my hard work her indoors reckons the painted calipers now look 'GAY', typical, anyone else think so (see pics, I think they're a bit bright but looked cool )? might have to repaint to her specs else, lol. Shame this wasn't one of those mods she didn't see me doing, I've got a new grill coming next week and irmscher badge for rear chrome strip so gonna see if I can get away with that one without her sarcy comments

Agreed. Used the same kit, and colour (except I also painted the retainer clips blue), on my front and rears and I'm happy with them - especially with my car being Ultra Blue.

    Look nice m8!

I did them on my edition 100 this weekend too! I went for gloss black for the calipers and the hubs. Look like new and the wheels look sooo much better having been cleaned off the car. (Dirty again now like!). As much as i like the ed100 wheels they're a pain in the backside to clean!

    Thumbs up Cheers

Thanks for the votes of confidence people, glad to see others agree with my decision to paint, the calipers were starting to look like they were growing fungus spores before I did them.

I'd show the missus this forum to prove her wrong but she might then sus out all my future modding plans and what I've been saying about her, no mods and too much off this to do then .

Yeah, bigun, I agree the wheels are a bit tricky but I like them, a bit different, I bought one of those sheepskin wheel brushes from Halfords, works a real treat between the spokes but a bit delicate, I broke mine on the first wheel I cleaned , to heavy handed, or was it because it was faulty like I told the counter girl in Halfords , no quibble replacement though .

Never thought about doing the hubs, now there's something else to wind the missus up on , it'll be so 'gay' for her by the time I've done with it
