    Default Service Interval

did the wee function to find out how many miles till my car needs a service, it says another 14K, and its done 15.5K miles at the mo, its an 05 54, so when is the absolute latest I can fire it in for a service but still keep the warranty intact.

if you are on flexiservice, which you are cuz it gives you the remaining miles to the service, then its either , wait till the counter tells you, or after 2 years, whichever happens first,

    hope this helps

excellent, I thought it was 1yr/30K service intervals. I'll deffo hit 30K (which according to the service indicator is roughly when its due) before 2yrs, means It'll be more than a year old before getting a service.

also, when it does go for a service, will it roughly be another 2yrs/30K before it needs another service? if not how long is the next interval?

i have the same engine , and just had a full service at 18k miles , but it was 2 years old, they reset the counter to 30k again, so i suppose so,
the service enabled me to retain the optional 3rd year warentee cover

its why i had it done at the main agent

yep, this is exactly why I'm asking about absolute limits, want to keep my 3yr warranty, but have it serviced as little as possible.

I was told the opposite by my local dealer. They say 20k miles (petrol) or 24 months as an absolute maximum in order to keep the warranty intact.
Mine was still showing 2,000 miles to go until it's first service when the odometer showed 20,000miles. They were adament that if I had a major fault in the future, VX could (and would) argue that I'd gone beyond their service intervals and invalidated the warranty.
It would seem that the dashboard count-down display is not "gospel" since it can be reset by people other than VX themselves.
It's not worth risking your warranty for the sake of a couple of months.
    (in my opinion!)

That's right, but don't be tempted to go beyone 30k - even if your car tells you it's okay!!!

    Doug,
i think you got mixed up, the service interval for a Diesel is 30k miles or the 2 years, whichever happens first,( if on flex service which has now been discontinued for new cars i think )

so if he does the 30k within 2 years then he gets it done,
if like me you get to the 2 years first, even with only 18k on the clock( 12k left on the trip ) you need to get it done, as the brake fluid is recommended to be changed by then to

No BB, the point I was making was with my car, which is 14 months old and last week had 19,500 miles on the odometer. At that time it was still showing 2,000 on the dashboard count-down display before it's first service is due.
If I was to take the car "at its word" I would not have taken it in until maybe 22,000 on the odometer (when the service display said "zero").
This would have invalidated my warranty, despite the car "telling me" it was okay to go up to that mileage.
24 months or 20,000 miles (30,000 diesel) are absolute maximums according to VX, even if the car's count-down display says it's okay to go further.
Too much to lose by going beyond those mileages!
