    Default Better Late Than Never

Ok it all starts off here, as you can see Rosie was all exited about the trip and was being a proper lady about it

We arrived and went over to the rather superb Trafford shopping complex, where this fountain shot water into the air and it all came down in the fountain again, not a drop on the floor

This is an outside shot of it to give you an idea how large it is

Across the road this took my eye, only a man could have commisioned it

Round to Old Trafford, by accident btw, had to get a shot of this

By now we are at the wedding and someone just couldn't say no

This is the Dr Who show at the Science Museum

As you can see this is a wall hanging of all the Dr's

Good to see I wasn't the ugliest bloke that weekend

This is the modern image of the museum

Sadly this had suffered a bit of damage, I offered to take it away for spare RSJ's butwas declined, just as well really, image that hanging out of the back of a Vectra

This is the old style of the museum, housing lots of interesting aviation history

Closest I've been to one of these before, looked larger irl

And this was what the missus' dad wanted to see, cos he used to get lifted around in one way back

Well that's the pictures done, now for the report....

As a place I found Manchester reasonably friendly, and there were only one or two nobs that stood out, one who tried to cross the road in front of me at a light, and the lights only stay green for a short while, he went to say something to me until I gave him the pitbull look, so that resolved that one, the other an idiot who saw the markings on the car and looked like he was going to boot the car, again the look and the Pompey crest saw him off, I found there wasn't much grace on the road and also it was real easy to misread road signs, after going to see City's ground I ended up nigh on in Rochdale before finding the hotel again, another one sent me to Preston when I wanted the next junction to Worsley, and on the way home we nearly got to go to Anfield because I read the sign on the M6 wrong.

The wedding went along great, and the groom's mum and I got it on straight away, she was awesome and a real pleasure to meet, there seem's many a place of interest in the city, and the museum's are free to visit, sadly we didn't have time to see many of them this time, not sure if I will go up again, I found the place a bit too industrial for my taste, but as I said before the ppl were nice so maybe I will some time in the future.

Car stuff, did a total of nearly 700 miles, 500 of them were on the motorway and the other 200 around congested local roads, trip showed 47 mpg @ 32 mph, used £62 of derv in total, car ran good, only thing that let it down was the fact it came from the area originally but still allowed me to get lost.

Interesting. I've been round and past Manchester a few times, but never into it.

What on earth is that last aircraft? I've seen a few and more pictures but never one like that.

@ H, she did give me the slightly envious look for a few seconds, I probably worded it a bit wrong, she's 75 yrs old, but she picked me out for a chinwag almost from the word go, I was pleased our girl had picked a nice interesting family to join, whole family were spot on, and the groom I took to straight off, really nice fella and a pleasure to be in company of.

@ Gary, yeah, I couldn't believe it, it was sunny and warm, which normally doesn't happen for weddings in July let alone April.

I've sorted out a few more pics for you ppl

The Shackleton has been modified, pops in law remarked on it at the time, both the turrets at the front and rear were not as he remembered them, the Spitfire isn't a WW2 one, the 1st thing I found strange about it was the extra blades on the prop and the cockpit bubble looked different to how I thought they looked, the Hunter had the side removed from it in an exploded diagram sort of way showing the engine which seemed to run from front to back with a cockpit strapped on to it, anyway nuff ramble here's the photos, of btw, I suffered another caught short failure this time, last year I ran out of mem card, fix that this time I though I'll shoot in 2 mp rather than 4 mp, bloomin battery ran out on me this time and guess what? yeah charger was sitting on my desk at home, I'd forgot to pick it up to take with me, doh!

Imagine your car dash to look like this, imagine the row trying to find Radio 1

Some more Dr Who, second pic for our Taff members :->

Some more Trafford Centre shots, very impressive, as you can see this is a mall that has lots of food outlets set out like stands and you buy your food and then go sit in the central seating area to scoff it, I think the ship theme is based on Titanic, the centre was opened in 98 so it's about the time the world was Titanic mad.

    Enjoy.

The Shackleton is the Airborne Early Warning version. These remained in service until 1990 because of the aborted Nimrod AEW version. It's a relative of the Avro Lancaster of WW2 era.
