    Default How Hot!!!

    Okay guys,

Just checked the therometer in our lean to conservatory and it's reading 115F and it's only 57F outside.

Does this mean that when it gets to 80F this summer the conservatory is going to read 160F

If so that's gonna make the lounge seriously HOT

Boy oh boy, that could be a huge problem...espeically with a new daughter

    Just had a brain wave.

Just add 2 ton of sand, a few palm trees, a couple of sun lounges and hey presto our own oasis.

    Who needs to go abroad

I swore never to have a conservatory again dude, for this exact reason. They're boiling hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. That's why I'm building an extension to my current house and not a conservatory.

Having said that they are perfect when the weather is on your side.

I have to say not built by us, the previous owner put it up and it's more like Greenhouse in construction.

Will be removed somepoint in the near future

Never want a conservatory cos of the / thing. Better off with a tiled/slate roof over large area of glass which makes them useable in summer and warm in winter. Costs more but adds more to value of house

Perfect excuse to buy an air conditioner come heater. A proper one plumed in not the silly stand in the corner jobs.

Why not get some blinds just for the roof. I heard they are real good at keeping most of the heat out. But maybe a portable aircon unit if you are going to knock it down a bit later. And you can use the air con unit in another room.

Why not just fit some tinted window film that is reflective on the outside? This will drop the temp big time in summer - but unfortunately it won't help at all in the winter!

Could be a cheap option for the time being?

we have a monster of a conservatory on our house, 4.5m by 7m. plus it has no divide to the house so the whole house gets heated for for free! but we have a portable air con / heater so we use it all year round.
you can by a portable air con cheap now though, dont need to run it on full, just let it trickle over.
