Default Radiator Warning light on first start of every day

Anyone got any ideas on this one.

For the past 5 days i have a radiator light come on the dash on the first start up each day. Once run a couple of minutes, its gone if i turn ignition off and back on. If on first start i take a 6 hour journey it would prob stay on, only goes out when i turn ignition off and back on again. And wont return till first start tomorrow.

    No running problems or anything.

I would have thought this would be caused by the coolant level sensors
There could be air in the system

    Try this :
Purchase about 3 litres of coolant, and mix up a 50:50 6 litres ready for use
With the engine cold, remove the coolant cap
Allow the engine to warm up on idle, there will be some coolant loss
    Allow the engine to cool
The system should return back to its previous level, less any lost (but there shouldn't be that much)
Measure how much coolant you need to add with the engine cold

Replace the coolant cap and retry

I know it might be stating the bleedin' obvious but is the header tank level low? I had mine come on on Mon when going round a long bend, stayed up until IGN Reset. Level was ok in the Header Tank. Did notice the sensor was set into the bottom of the tank.

Normally the driver display comes up "Coolant Level" when the header bottle reservoir is just below its minimum
The radiator warning light normally only comes on if there is NO coolant in the radiator or the coolant system temperature is too hot

it's so easy this one.... is the coolant level on the line or not?..

if it's on the line when cold, yet the light comes on, swap in a new coolant sensor...it's the only thing at fault in the header tank...it wouldn't be the 1st one i've changed..

right, but the guage would tell him if it's too hot, and if he can see coolant in the tank then it's not running short..or airlocked...and he says they're no running problems which would tend to rule out running short of coolant as that would cause overheating problems..if it was running short the location of the temperature sensor would make it run in steam effectively..and that would send the temp guage crazy..

Another possibility is if the car is parked overnight at an angle
I had this on my previous Vectra
Checked and the coolant was bang on perfect
Parked the car and "coolant level" kept appearing!

yeah was level, appears my drive is more sloped than i thought, was below cool level but not that low, the slope just made it appear worse.

    Thanks for all replies
