    Default Warning light

This is for all you 3.0 V6 CDTi drivers. I've had warning come up lights bulbs gone but on accepting them they have all reset. However the other day I had the spanner light come on. I was coming to the junction at the end of my street in 3rd gear. Looked left and right, changed down to 2nd, right foot down and there was no power. Pulled into the side of road and spanner warning light was on under tacho. Checked the manual and it said that it would go into limp home mode. However, when I turned it over it just cut out. This happened a couple of times. Left the car for a couple of minutes and it started okay with no warning light shown. Its been okay since yesterday. I have also had the traction control come on a couple of times when driving. When I go to the car after these occasions, it has reset itself. I'm really annoyed with this all happening since the warranty just finished 10th March!!! Anyone had problems like this???

its been on mine a few times...... but not recently. first time a couple of sensors went, one for the turbo boost pressure and another one on the ecu somewhere that senses air? they couldn't really explain it to me. the last time was when the cruise control kept cutting out.
That seems to have gone away now they have changed the CC stalk

I was just wondering if it was a common fault or one that just came and went. I'll find out more info when more people read this thread I hope!!

You could try asking your local VX dealership to perform a FREE Tech 2 and check for any recorded error codes
There is a place in Stirling (non-VX) that performs FREE Tech 2 checks, now that you can't do the paperclip test yourself (unless anyone knows how?)

There are quite a few different spanner logos that can come up in the vehicle display
I stalled the engine once while setting off, and the steering wheel symbol appeared!
I figured out that the Power Steering pressure had gone
I restarted the engine and it never appeared again

I would pretty much go with that, leave it as an erratic fault and watch for it happening again
A VX dealership could waste an hour (and your money) looking for a fault, just to report no fault found (NFF)

Its never happened again ( touch wood ).

@m8internet......Furryboots in Stirling is the place that does free Tech2 checks?. Useful to know as I'm just up the road from there.

I have to agree, if a fault is erratic just keep an eye on it
If it happens on about 50% or more of journeys it is time to deal with it

My Vectra is under warranty until November 2009
I have a small number of erratic faults on mine, and they were logged on a visit to a dealership in February
If any of these faults return or get worse then I can use that visit as reference
That is pretty much all you can do

The dealership is going to complete two repairs but they will be performing them at the cars first service, at my request
I can then add any other faults at the same time
The car will be two years old / 30K miles

Things haven't got better. Was driving up my street and the car hesitated but didn't stall. The traction light came on and couldn't be turned off from the switch. Then on the way mome the same thing happened but this time the coil light and traction came on, went off and then the traction light stayed on.

I'll try this place Furryboots in Stirling and see what they say.

Apologies, I had details but seem to have lot them...
Someone sent me a PM (on another motoring website I host), but I can't find it

    Suggest you try :
    http://www.mmvperformance.co.uk (Stirling)
that certainly rings a bell with me
    or
    http://www.kryptontune.co.uk (Edinburgh)

I get all my repairs carried out on my current Vectra for FREE, so not something I need to worry about (until November 2009 when the warranty runs out!)

The same thing happened when i was in my old vec in the outside lane of the M1 Pulled onto the hard shoulder, left it a minute or so and restarted fine. It did it again a few days later on the way home. Took it to Vx and it was the fuel pump throwing up an error code so they changed it. Luckily it was under warranty as it was £1660 just for the pump.
