Default CD70 NAV to replace 2005CD?

    Hi
I have been thinking about switching my 2005CD unit for a CD70 NAV
I imagine there would be a bit of work to fit the SATNAV antenna etc, but does anyone have any idea if this would be possible?

I have been told that it will only work in models later than 2004, and as I have a 2003 '53 SXI Vec I am reluctant to buy a unit if it won't work

    Any help would be appreciated

You would need to re-wire behind the dash, if not the whole car as well as fit the CD70 and it's aerial. You'd also need the new style steering wheel, possibly a revised multi function display too. Maybe other bits in your car that won't fit onto the full canbus loom too..

Not worth it m8 - if you want one that bad, find a car with it fitted already!

Thanks for the reply, I thought that would be the case. I have a standard TomTom unit at the moment, and would like a more 'factory fit' look rather than an arm stuck to the windscreen!

Looks like I will be keeping the TomTom unless there are any other options???

I know exactly what you mean. Mrs OB has a Tom Tom One and it's great, but I still prefer the integrated CD70 with TMC built in, despite the limitations on mine with the simple mono screen. It's just that for the cost and hassle of retrofitting it (even in a full canbus car, never mind a half canbus) you could very possibly upgrade to a newer, lower mileage car with it already fitted... Lots of 54 reg cars available with the monochrome turn by turn version, works well enough and prices are not that high...

You might even find one with the colour screen (full map sat nav with it), as on the facelift cars.

It's an older TomTom Classic, but am thinking about replacing with a One.
When you say 'click it in place' what are you connecting the mount to?
Do you have to screw it to the dash?

on the tomtom one version 1 if you turn the unit upside down and push it into where the clock display is it pushes into place using the dash trim
so not bracket is needed or and window holder either

i will post a pic up later to show what i mean
