    Default 1st car ideas?

Hi, sorry if wrong section, not sure if to put here or non-vec related

Basically my bro is turning 17 this year, we want him to have something decent/cool but not fast or high insurance

we live is basically the worst rated area aswel...

I like the look of the suzuki ignis sport, ..£3k insurance however

They only cost around 1200 and have 1.5 engine and recaros as standard...my other idea was to get a 1.0 version and swap parts.

I kind of like small jap scene cars which you can slap parts on.

    Any ideas?

How about the Phase 2 Clio's?
The 1.2 Engines are belters and they look pretty cool, even today
Plus, most parts are pretty much plug and play to upgrade (did it with my old Laguna) and they have a 5 star crash rating
They are pretty cheap to buy and run and I think insurance should be reasonable, or at least as reasonable as it can be for a 17 year old!

Tricky really - He's gonna get stung up the bum with any car being only 17.

I was in a Micra for a year, and even with a years driving my policy on my own car (1.4 75BHP 207) was £1500 for the year. It's still pretty high at £850 for the year on the vec and i'm now 20.

May have to weigh up the cost of adding all the mods to the car and how it'll effect the insurance.

Seen a few of the little VW Lupos around here. The in thing with them seems to be to drop them right down, and go for almost a sort of Cal Look. Look pretty good I reckon.
