Finally got round to getting time to get this sorted, changed the steering pump and rack. Problem solved, think it was the rack that was at blame as you could feel it when turning the wheels by hand, while up on the ramp.

Vx mechanic told me steering fluid gets forgotten - check it every oil change for level and colour - it should be green and clean - change it every 50k.

Another answer could be an Angle Sensor? I bought a used one 5 years ago for £10 from a scrap yard. Problem fixed until this week. Think I've worked it out to a faulty connection now on the plug

I think this is the same issue I have where did you get your rack and pump from and roughly how much was it to get it changed?
