    Default Damaged tyre!! 19"

The snow flakes on the hire siggy I have at the moment all looked a little flat. SO stopping at the petrol station I inflated all the tyres from 29/30 to 38-40 all round. On closer inspection I have discovered the front conti 235/35/19 has a bit of damage. The rubber has started to seperate where it touches the rim. The outer casing is peeling away from the inner air tight lining. It has a few very small chunks of rubber out of the tyre wall so I would guess its damage rather than a manufacturer problem. I realise this is dangerous and could possible blow out, but what should I do? Do I fit a new tyre or phone and tell the garage who supplied the car telling them its not fit to drive? I'm a bit worried they will tell me its my fault and I caused the damage - I never!...... a new tyre is £150+ No way am I paying for that! If I hadn't inflated them I would never have seen it.........
    Help!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

i'd have a word with the garage.. worst case is that they will ask you to change it.. upside is they may do it FOC..

tell them it was leaking air and you only noticed it when you inflated it.. i.e. it was supplied to you like that..

I don't really want to bring it to their attention in case they ask me to change it but i'm fully aware of the risks with it.
I do like the idea of telling them it kept going flat..... although it isn't

If its a hire car what is the prob, if they blow on you at speed you maybe dead and others. You pay nothing, just tell them the car is dangerous. It would not pass an MOT like that, it is not yours so get it fixed or give it back.

My Vec has been in the body shop for 4days and i have had a 56 plate corsa which is going back in the morning. Yesterday i was parking, i hit the pointed bit of the kerb and damaged the tyre went to the garage COST ME £59 FOR A 185/55/15 CONTINENTAL.

Back to topic..... i would phone the hire company and get it changed, how long have you got the car for ? and what about the spare ??
