Headlamp Bulbs

Hi everyone.

There's a large & very thorough article in Auto Express about bulbs. It compares loads of them & rates them accordingly.

If anyone's thinking of changing them (like me) get this edition cos its well useful.

I heard they are a bu99er to fit as well on the C?? I'll get someone else to fit them, my hands are like shovels!!

I changed them on my last car (Vec B) & never realised I knew so many swear words.

Hi Ion

I changed mine to Osram SilverStars, they are noticably brighter.

They are fairly easy to change, for the right hand light you nedd to remove the washer filler neck to give you more room to get you hand it, also for the left hand one I removed the air filter lid and pipe.

Still managed to cut my thumb to shreds, that was because the previous owner had changed a bulb and bent one of the flaming connectors

Worth the upgrade, may want to change the sidelights to Philips blue vision also to give a whiter/bluer light than the amber halogen

I got my Silverstars for £17 delivered, bargain and they arrived the next day

Thanks for the tips.

I think the bulbs you have are in the article & are rated highly.

The price is cheap as well.


I'm still not sure though about doing them myself.

In addition to having big hands, I broke my right hand last year & although its now back to 99% I find fiddly work especially in tight places tricky.
