Handbrake Clunking Noise?

Anyone else have a handbrake that makes a clunk noise when you put it on?

I had my Handbrake Lever changed by Dealer ... now slight clunk has returned.

Handbrake still works, not too convinced it is a real major problem.

Mines just started doing that, after a service, worse if the cars been standing, or the handbrake hasn`t been on, like a disconcerting crack as it tightens?

Mine does it every now and again.Vx says it the self adjuster thingy.I belive them, but its a design fault if you ask me.

Yes, I have seen that thread ... just had my car serviced, pads are okay ... Vx were convinced it was the lever, just wondered if anyone else was clunking?

Only done 14,550 miles, unlikely to be rear pads ?

Mines done it from 12000 miles.Vx says pads are good.

such a relief to find out that others are having this problem aswell...i thought it was just mine.

mine does it fairly regularly, but when it does do it, it will only do it once, so if you drop the handbrake and bring it back up after the clicking it won't do it again.

the noise is annoying as hell!! such a horrbile sound!!!

my car has covered 11k so i'd be really p!ssed if my rear pads needed changing!

mine used to do it but took it in to vx and they adjusted the handbrake cable somehow they said it stretches and needs adjusting now and again stopped it clunking anyway whatever they did

took the vectra to vauxhall just before christmas and i must say i was very pleased with the service i received. they changed the entire handbrake unit and there hasn't been one incident of that clunking noise. the new handbrake got me a chrome pushbutton as opposed to the matt silver finish that was there before.

the vauxhall garage i used were the Richmond branch for anyone who is interested.

past couple of days i've noticed that as i pull away i hear a noise from the rear brakes which sounds as though they are releasing themselves from the discs even after the handbrake has been disengaged. should i put this down to the weather, or is the handbrake not releasing the brakes properly?

Yep, had that on all 3 vecs including the facelift, had it on the signum too. I never leave cars in gear but generally do now as I don't trust the handbrake on the veccarini's.
