    confused New brakes rubbing

    Hi,

My 02 Vectra C 1.8 Club is in a VX garage getting new brakes but they can't make them stop rubbing. They have put two new sets on now and can't work it out. They are asking VX if the size of the brakes has changed since 02 but this seems unlikely to me.

Has anyone ever experianced issues of brakes not fitting or rubbing?

When you say 'rubbing' do you mean all of the time or just when braking similar to the brakes binding, a bit like a drone?

erm...nope.....i've never had one that constantly drones...

they do suffer from noisy pads grinding when you stop, but thats down to low asbestos fricton materials..

Your dealer is telling you little fairy tales. Remember, first thing an apprentice mechanic is taught (after the location of the kettle), is to say "They all do that" in answer to any question.

i'd go with bearing if it's a speed related droning noise, or look at the tyres..

if you take the wheel off and turn the hub by hand, does it feel gravelly??... brakes don't drone, they will'grind' on application or 'ring' if the antivibration backer isn't doing it's job..

    Hi,

They changed the brakes once but when i went to work in the morning it felt like the car was really slugish. The brakes were kind of on all the time and getting really hot!

They changed the brakes again full set but the same happened again?

Still not got it back, so stuck with a Corsa for now and i don't fit in it .

Has anyone ever herd of brakes getting stuck on? thats what i meant by rubbing.
