    Default Bikes are next!

I'm not a fan of motorbikes, but I can see their appeal. Not happy with screwing the motorist in every possible way, Politicians are turning their attentions to motorbikes.
Read the latest report and be afraid!!

    http://uk.news.yahoo.com/29032007/32...ds-capped.html

Particularly like this well informed comment by the reports author

Giving evidence to the committee, transport author Stephen Plowden said he could not see why anyone needed a bike with a top speed of more than 65 mph.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a ferry port. I don't want to live in a country with the level of 'Big Brother' that Blair and his cronies have introduced.

And no doubt will not be able to use a mobile in case he loses his concentration and guides the car down the wrong side of the road...

    Thumbs down

It was on radio 4 news tonight as well. The most misguided bit of rubbish I have come across for a long time. If they cap the top speed of the bike by having vibrating handlebars or beepers (I kid you not - this is what is being talked about) the first thing will be an aftermarket kit to de-restrict it. The argument was that bikes are 1% of users but 20% of fatalities and therefore should be controlled.

    What rubbish!

Two wheels and 1.5mm of cowskin compared to EuroNcap five stars....... Of course the bike is going to come off worse.

Steve Berry put up a good defence against the guardianista who admitted that she had never ridden a bike but they were dangerous.

Our police colleagues will no doubt confirm but most bike accidents occur at sub 100mph with either a stupid overtake or too high corner speed. With speed restricted bikes they will crash just as much. Nothing can stop the blind motorist pulling out in front of a biker either so nothing will be gained there. Net effect = zero at best.

Misguided, misinformed, misconceived, misthought, mis - everything

Come - prove me wrong. This should be a lively discussion

If the politicians do not like motorised vehcals then they should all go and live on the isle of Sark, and stop interfering.
