    Default feels un-steady .....

my car is driving really wierd since i fitted the 19;s - seems to be like jelly when cornering - hardly sticking to the road at all - thought maybe it was new tyres still to wear in but when steering left and right along a road the car feels very wobbly.....

...this is whats making me think maybe the shocks need doing too?

Are you running the lowered springs with standard shocks still? That may cause the symptoms you describe. Does it take a while to 'settle down' after going over a bump or dip? If so that says to me your shocks are shot.

yeah standard shox - only got worse since putting the new 19's on tho - maybe they are putting more strain on the shox?

The 19`s will soak up much less of the road and the shox will need to work harder, this would make it feel much worse I would imagine, your old tyres would have een absorbing a lot of it ..

ahh - maybe thats it then?

i was worried it was the new tyres....basically if i go round any sweeping corners the car handles SO badly its unreal....it used to handle really well with the 17's fitted.

as you say maybe its because i've gone from a 55 profile tyres down to a 35.

i hope your right. so do you think the shocks may be knackered then or just the fact i have the wrong springs on the car?

(cant wait for the new suspension set up to arrive in the post now!!

Am I right in thinking that when you order a Vectra from Vx with 19's on that the suspension geometry is different? if so then this maybe part of your unnatural feeling.

nope, no different geometry at all...all the same components, just a stronger inner trackrod joint...

felt even worse tonight - like i havent really got control of the steering - just feels all over the place and pretty unsafe to be honest.

and it does seem to roll quite a bit of i steer hard left and right.....is it likely to be just the springs & shocks causing this??

Thought i saw in a thread somewhere that you'd found the problem - Inovite alloys with the wrong size hub hole thingy?

Or am i confusing you with someone else?

I assume you've checked the tyre pressures? Too much air in the tyres can make a car feel really strange. Last time I got tyres, one had 55psi and the other 40psi. Near spun out twice on the way home, as the back was bouncing all over the place.
