Red face Is there a problem with CDTI reliability ??

Hi guys, recently brought a Signum CDTI 150 and reading alot of post's and threads I am concerned about it's reliability, also my friend has a Vectra CDTI 150 05 plate and his is always in VX's. Do I have reason to be concerned or are they just unlucky??

Let me know what you think!!!

    Mark.

Seems to me most guys with problems on there cdti`s have had boxes fitted at some point, I reckon it would be naive not to link them to engine problems .. Just an opinion though ??

I've had problems and never fitted a tuning box or had a re-map.

I think it's just co-incidence if people have problems after fitting the tuning box, after all how can you be sure it wouldn't have failed if it wasn't fitted?

You have to remember, that people who have problems will always ask for advice. Those who don't have problems won't. Viscous circle really.

Exactly, there are 1000's of these engines about. People never post "Hey no problems here". You only hear bad news.
Don't worry unless there is something wrong with yours.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

That's what I used to think...until mine went wrong!!

There's also 1000s of people who will have problems and never post here...I think the best indicator is percent of people on this forum who've had problems, and that number seems to be climbing judging by the poll results.

OTOH, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Any car can go wrong for any number of reasons, but the CDTI might just have a few issues that need sorting and then it will be fine. I understand the new inlet manifolds being fitted are a revised design - so that's less to worry about once it's been fixed the first time.
