    Default exhaust pressure

Can anyone shed light on this:

MESSAGE: I have just purchased a Vauxhall Omega 2.2 DTi CD 4dr manual, decently speedy @ about 125bhp and 205lbft torque and one of the jobs i would like to do at some point is fit a perfromance exhaust system from the cat or maybe just the backbox, to improve both the look and sound of my new mile munching luxobarge Thing is, im not 100% sure about the tech' side of things...ive read somewhere that removing back pressure from an engine that produces its torque in a narrow band (like DTi's do) can destroy the torque and power delivery...but i also read that on Turbo equipped car's, removing all back pressure helps the Turbo spin up quicker and delivers much more power...anyone shed any light onto the issue? Many thanks

I have just cut and pasted it from powerflows site and there were no replies to it. I'm asking cause i'm thinking of changing the back box on my DTI and i would imagine the same would apply to my veccy.

as for my 2.0dti yes i think ya can notice a difference in acceleration and she diffinately sounds absolutly brilliat for a derv

right well i got the y piece from roarrunner motorsport england, was£260 delivered and fitted myself(bought back splitter from jdl to suit dual exit), then went to dee's exhausts near the abbey centre and got the straight pipe done for £110 but make sure and keep your CAT as they will try and keep it to sell it on m8 so the hole lot set me back £370, as i said i need tor put her on the rolling road and see what she shows in increase/decrease(hopefully not a decrease but it can surprise ya some times m8)

I gained 6hp and 49lb/ft by removing the cat off my 2.0Dti and replacing the 2" system with a 2.25" system

Torque is mad now, 204lb/ft at 1530rpm - should be 170lb/ft.
