Default 0 km. left but 10 liters left..?

    Hello everyone,

I can see that the tank size has been discussed some times... I´m still a bit confused though.

I have the Vectra C which has a 60L tank.

I´m just curious on how far you are driving when the fuel lamp goes on? The computer says "----" even when before the fuel lamp goes on.

I haven´t been able to put more than 50 liters in the tank even when the needle is horisontal!

    Best regards,
    Kristian

The figures given are only based on your average consumption over so many miles/kms and NOT the performance over the last 2 miles or so, and as such won't be any more than a fairly accurate guide.

Don't let the guage / tank drop to zero to find out for sure

I always do the measure my mileage from the tank... I would just like to know how far I can go in case I need to someday..

Last summer I missed a petrol station on the German autobahn and I went 60 km. more than the computer said I could.. But I knew the car a bit better... Just trying get the same info if I need it for a case of emergency some day

You can "reset" the board computers milage memory by disconnecting the battery. Also, only filling up half or quarter will confuse the computer.
Other than that, it's just getting a spare can of fuel in the boot and drive it all empty. Although the tank hold 60 or 61 litres, I guess you'll never how much you can actually fill it till it's been run dry. As soon as the light comes on, you could reset the bc to see how much you'm use until it stops (I think it gets the used fuel from injector data, so it should be fairly accurate).
Without spare fuel, better find a petrol station fast as soon as the light starts flashing

If you completely drained the tank or let it cut out, then pushed it into a petrol station, you'd then refill the tank with 60 litres as it says. Had same issue when I worked for Nissan years ago. Customer complained his new car wouldn't take full amount. We had to drain the tank completely then push it onto pumps where he refilled it. Got in just over amount said in book

In Insignia won't let you see the range left or clear the refuel warning once you get down to the flashing light - I have driven 25 miles with the light flashing though and then put in about 72 litres in the 70 litre tank. I always brim right to the filling cap so that adds a few litres to the capacity to. By designing it that way, they're trying to avoid people draining to tank completely and possibly damaging the engine. On modern diesels with the common rail engine it isn't a huge issue, on older ones the bleeding process is horrendously difficult. It's the same on the V6 diesel as it doesn't have a tank pump - the HP pump can have trouble getting the fuel through as the system is suction driven and not pressurised...
