    Default CIM help?

The missus green machine has developed a little niggle.

Every now and then, it'll throw the battery light on whilst driving, and all power to engine, brakes and steering is lost. Bit scary if im honest.

It seems to reset itself soon after and all is well for weeks.........

Also, the traction control light sometimes lights up and stays on until it decides its had enough, often several minutes later.

Had it looked at by mechanic friend of mine with his Bosch tester. He says that it showed 3 faults although couldnt fully read them due to some kind of CIM error.

1 fault was cruse control of some kind.

1 fault was this CIM unit behind the wheel.

and 1 fault was the key in some way.

    Any ideas chaps and chapesses?

Sounds damn expensive to me, kinda hoping it ain't..........

Ok, this sounds sneakily like an alternator fault to me... What year and model is your car?

there was a batch of faulty alternators.. turns out this only affected the 1.9cdti's.
Still sounds like an alternator overcharging type of fault to me personally.

could be ABS unit multi plug, they have had problems with the wireing to the ABS control unit, although that normally causes non starting too.
