Vectra Remap
Hi
Can anyone recommend a quality re-mapper.
I'm based in North East Fife, but will travel to get the job done properly.
Its an 05' Vectra C, Estate, SRi, 1.9 CDTi, 120BHP. Car is
fitted with a Bosch EDC 16C9, so can't get the file out of the
ECU without going thru the BDM route.
Thanks
Jim

Hi, my understanding is you can write to the ECU (to do a reflash) but you cant read from the ECU to get the file out via the OBD port.
Hence, needing a tuner who can get their hands on stock files to modify, then reflash to the ECU..

The vast majority of EDC16C9 ECUs will read and write the active map bank with MPPS. No need for BDM!
I've done very many EDC16C9 remaps successfully with MPPS.
Tools that do a full write (all map banks, including unused ones) such as KessV2 and FGTech can only write to these ECUs hence the requirement for an original file. But MPPS will read and write the active map bank, which is all that you need...

Hi, I've got the header info from the file if that helps, In theory it was ECO mapped a couple of years back, but never saw any difference in performance or MPG !! (sore pint..).
I assume the factory files are fairly standard for this range of vehicle ?

There were at least 3 different hardware versions of EDC16C9 with different Bosch part numbers. Although essentially identical in physical structure, the software was laid out differently. In theory you should be safe writing any software version, as long as the hardware version (bosch part number) is the same.
They are 0281011449, 0281011914, and I've forgotten the third bosh part number. But if you post up the full hw and sw number, I've sure me or paulvectrac will have a compatible original file.
Once you have written the proper original file, any future editing can be done by reading and writing with MPPS at the OBD port.
