    Cool Poland

Just got back from 2 days in Warsaw and Lodz. The outstanding thing you notice is the number of fiats, especially the fiat 126 (and every single one is a flat turquoise green and I mean every one). Other than that it's Skodas and VWs. Saw one Signum and One Vectra 'c'. The 126's make excellent mobile chicanes. The road to Lodz from Warsaw is 3 hours of 95mph on single lane either way so overtaking fiats and tractors passes the time. I've not been stopped by the police there but apparently it's a 5 euro cash fine with no receipt.

I was in Budapest a couple of weeks ago and they have a lot of fiats too.... they have a badge on most of them saying "Fiat Polska" so I assume there is a factory in Poland.

My brother used to have a 127 that had a 1.3 turbo engine in it. Used to have good fun on dual-carriageways with BMW drivers. They'd do their usual flash of their main beams for us to get out of the BMW lane, he'd wait a few seconds and then floor it, leaving them wondering where the little orange car went!

Only trouble was it used to blow up even more than a Renault 5GTT!!

not really, it was old W reg, which i later fitted with a mini1275gt engine, spax shocks and HUGE 13" metro Turbo alloys

Mine was silver but just look at this highly dramatic libray pic showing the style and grace with which the car could handle on gravel

I just found out that my wifes work has a huge garage/warehouse that some of the staff and bosses park boats or trailers in so im going to start saving for a track car after xmas that i can store there (and later my own garage when we move house). I fancy something small but fun like an early saxo VTR that i can strip out or go the classic route with a Chevette HS or manta etc

    Default MK1 Astra MK1 Astra MK1 Astra MK1 Astra

I reckon you should get a Mk1 astra cos you can put any old engine you like in them and when stripped out they go like stink. Plus you know how mechanicals of that age of car (no offence) and there are still parts available dirt cheap.or maybe thats what I'd like to do if had the space/cash/time!!
