You could run a spare cigrette lighter from the 12v supply, then plug in an incar adapter from a sat-nav, mobile phone or something once you match up a correct feed from the adapter, I rckon it would be pretty straight forward ..

I've got 2 spares somewhere from old phones! If not, they're only a fiver from Tesco's

Hmmm, quite a dinky little inverter. Of course the inverters I was looking at were 1000w, not 150w I could use my laptop in the car with that inverter, it uses about 120w I think. It's proving a challenge to find a cheap dell laptop car charger!!
Anyway, your problem. Let us know when your frame arrives and what the PSU quotes as output.
As for the display, I've never taken out the OEM display when fitting a aftermarket to a vauxhall, so no idea here I'm afraid. You'll either have to find out how the car circuit knows the screen is there (pass-thru perhaps, or current draw), or stick it in behind the new screen. No one will see it!!
You can get a converter from 12v to 240v on ebay for about £30. It would take up about half your glove box and needs a lot of cooling(ok if your air co blows in there! ) but is a big way of making a small thing work! Alright if you want to plug a computer in though!!!
The frame wants 9v so could go for the phone charger idea.
I've hidden the old display down a hole. covered it up to prevent shorting it.
Found that the Circuit board for the frame is huge but does just about lie flat under the vents but i had to cut away at the back of the vent\display housing to get it in. The screen went in perfectly, i couldn't have asked for a better fit! I just need to get it to stay in place.. I'm thinking of using some packing from the computer boxes at work.. cut a hole for the display and calve it to the shape and size of the old display, then screw the white backing from the old display back in where it used to go to hold everything in place. (I'll post some pics tomorrow)
The Circuit board now needs covering to prevent shorting and it wants powering then i should be up an running. I can't relocate the memory card reader so i've no choice but to use the usb lead and the frames built in memory. a bit of a pain having to use a laptop to change the pics on it but what the hell, i'll just have to make sure i don't change it so often! lol
Found a little pipe in there on Friday too, it clips on to a frame in where the stereo is and blows air through it when the fans are on! Learn something new every day.. It's now been modded to cool the screen and circuit board! lol
Speaking of cooling.. My Air Con needs looking at. The engine goes wild when i turn it on and the air doesnt get any cooler!
Airco might need regassing? Looking forward to these piccies!
Yeah, post some pics when you have some. Looking forward to seeing what it's like after all this!!
I hope to god it's worth it! lol. Just fitting it now, trying to get the screen to stay in place. Good job we have plenty of polystyrene here! lol
A bit of clar silicon to stick it on as well, would stop it rattling, 9v should be easy anyhoo, can`t wait to see it, you could get a picture of a colour display and put it on, it would look like you have that, and a couple of map pictures, would look like sat nav !! looking forward to seing it ..
