Yep, it was indeed. I used to leave the blower on setting two as that seemed to be the quietest.

It's likely your blower motor has been in water sometime, and the bearing needs lubricating again. Mine was covered in rust like it'd been submerged haha

I'm useless at DIY, so it was a godsend having it done for me.

You need to take out the glovebox and it's in the black cylinder you'll see. There's plenty of threads on here if you search for them

Once the lower part of the housing is removed from the car, and if ECC you have also seperated the electronic speed controller from the fan housing, there are three small screws on the bottom of the housing that retain the motor into the housing. Undo these then the motor can be pulled free of the housing.

In some cases, the bottom bearing just dries out and goes stiff. Free it off with lots of WD40 and turning by hand until it spins freely. Once free dry it out with compressed air then apply lots of white grease spray or ceramic grease to the bottom bearing, spin it by hand to get it to soak in, then reassemble and refit.

However in Corfate's one the bearing had worn so badly or disintegrated that there was 1/4 inch endfloat on the shaft. In this case they are beyond redemption.

It doesn't matter, I would probably have never needed it. The fact that I had repaired it and kept it meant that I would never have used it, and something else that I didn't have 'in stock' would break instead
