I asked them to look into the pulley whine and the knocking on hard right turns. Apparently it's the idler pulley on the AUX belt that's causing the whine, and the outer CV joint that's worn causing the knocking. It's going back in within 2000 miles to get the Timing belt & waterpump sorted, so i'll get them to do it all then
Where did you get the wheel from?

    Piece of cake.
Remove -ive lead from battery, pop air bag off, disconnect wiring, t50 bolt holding wheel on
    Refit opposite of above

So, the cars now on 138,400 miles and still ticking along. I've had a few problems since my last batch of 'updates':

    - Rear brake lines popped on the MOT and had to be replaced due to age
    - Rear brake calipers replaced due to sticking on
    - Disks and pads all round
    - Service (oil, filter, fuel filter & air filter) every 10,000 miles.
    - Red battery warning light came on one morning a couple of months ago, but hasn't come back on since lol
    - Washer bottle filter gummed up, so had to give that a clean but now works a treat.
    - One of the numberplate lights is dead

    List of current issues outstanding:

    - Rear end seems to clunk quite loudly going over bumps (Need to do some searching on this forum!)
    - Got a metal on metal high pitched sound, similar to brake squeal, which is intermittent when driving along.

I keep looking at Insignias and wanting to upgrade, but i'm also trying to save for a house, so I need to prioritise my money!

So, i'm nearing my next 10,000 mile service (800 off).

My service items are being delivered today and include:

    Oil + Filter
    Fuel Filter
    Air filter
    Pollen Filter

I'm also going to mention when it's in the garage the clunking over uneven road from the back end, and the metal on metal grind coming from the front brakes - It's very annoying! I can do the air and pollen filter, they're easy

Spent a couple of hours yesterday cleaning the car and getting in nice and shiny. It was also the first time the wheels had been done in over a year I'd say. They were bad, very bad. Got as much as i could off them, but I think quite a lot of the brake dust is stuck on the rims. I probably need to get some acidic cleaner on them and give them a proper good scrub. I also replaced both rear numberplate lights, so they now work. I've had an ongoing issue where they sometimes work when the lights are on, sometimes not. They've always passed the MOT, so i've never been massively fussed - just a little niggle.

Mainly updating this so i have a written log for reference in the future

    Service done and dusted.

The metal grinding/brake noise was the rear drivers side caliper slider pin thing - Apparently it had swelled and was binding, so the caliper was sticking. That was sorted, new pads at the back too because of it.

One of my springs at the back had snapped, so that was replaced.

The knocking noise is still there - sounds like someones getting a rubber mallet and hitting the bottom of the car going over uneven bumps. They said it was likely the bushings, but didn't have time to sort it that day. It'll wait though, just an annoying noise to deal with until the next service in 10k miles

I'm pretty bad at updating this, but the Vectra is now on 150,800 miles and somehow passed it's MOT first time in September. It had an Oil change and filter change whilst it was in.

Advisories for the rear tyres and steering rack play. Rear tyres don't owe me anything, they have been on there forever it seems.

Annoying problem with the cruise control has surfaced though. Started off intermittently turning itself off, now it won't turn on at all other than flash the green light on the dash. Tried cleaning the contacts, which didn't work. I've had a feel of the pedal and it's got no play in it, so don't think it's the clutch return spring. Going to try some WD 40 inside the contact part and see if that does anything :/

Still got the clunking from the rear. It drives me mad. Asked the garage to take a look at it but they haven't sorted it for whatever reason. It's passed 2 MOTs though, so can't be dangerous... hopefully!

Also got a pulsing brake pedal under heavy braking.

Still getting 54mpg though so overall it's doing me well

Car did a trip down to London this weekend just gone, 495 miles without issue. 4 of us in it, 54mpg so pretty pleased with that

Was in the garage on Monday to get the knocking looked at. Got a leaky rear strut, so they will be getting replaced on Friday alongwith the anti roll bar bushes and something else... Can't quite remember what it was. Will update on Friday
