Bottom Drive Pullywheel Broken

Hi Guys Ive got a 2005 Vectra c and is under warrenty until Sept, last night while i was on my wy home the bottom drive wheel on the engine as broken off, when i pulled away from the traffic lights on a slight incline the car stalled, so i started it again and this knocking noise was heared coming from the drivers side, so i took a look but could not see anything so i continued to drive home approx 3quarts of a mile after approx half way the temp gauge started to rise above the 100 mark and engine warning light came on and the battery light. so as i was only yards away from home i continued, on inspection this morning you can see that the bottom wheel is completly broken. my main questions are
will vx dealers pick up the car?
and could i claim a courtesy car while works being done?
what damage would it have done?
I purchased this car from a garage not network q in October
any advise would be appreciated.

I'd certainly hope so - or depending on your type of breakdown they may relay you.

I'd have also hoped the dealer would supply a courtesy car for the time they have repairing it.

I'm assuming on the 2.0DTi the water pump is also driven off that Multi-V belt - along with the AC, power steering and alternator - so that would be the reason why the engine got hotter. As long as you didn't drive it for long once it got up to 100, then I wouldn't expect you've done anything.

So it never came with a Net Q warranty? I see it's an 04 model - do you still have any Vx warranty left on it?

Thanx for the reply just to confirm its a 2004 2.0dti with vx warrenty until sept 07.

Then at least there isn't that bit to worry about - should hopefully be a straightforward Vx warranty job.

Ouch, sounds painfull. My dad had a Mitsubishi Colt which had a recall because the bolt used to hold the bottom pulley in place was a mm or two too long & so when torqued up wasn't quite pulling tight on the pulley. From excessve vibration the bolts were working loose then falling out, off came botom pulley & bend goes the engine.

I'm sure your warranty though should leave you with nothing to worry about.

Same thing happened on my old 04 2.0 dti at about 60k. I keep hearing from people about this problem but is the first time ive seen it mentioned on Vectra-c. RAC recovery for me and no courtesy car. IIRC it was just over 60k so out of warranty but vauxhall agreed to pay %40 goodwill. Make sure they put ALL the screws back in the undertray, mine fell down soon after the repair and was completely trashed by the time I noticed
