    Default Buckled wheel

Well after posting about my new wheel probs last night,"wheel vibration" i took them to be re-balanced today. The guy who re- balanced them said that there was'nt much in it,especially to cause the type of vibration that i said i was getting. He started working on the last rear wheel and noticed that it was'nt fitting flush to the hub After further inspection he seemed to think that the wheel had not been properly "jigged" at the factory where it was made and that it looked buckled and has advised me to contact the company that i bought it from and ask for a replacement So after all that re-balancing the car is still vibrating like a goodun and i am majorly p****D off Only thing is would the rear wheel make the steering wheel vibrate like it does,as if still not balanced properly? All advise very welcome.

apparently if its one of the rear wheels you'd feel it through the car seat and not the steering wheel

i've recently had nightmares with my 19's and balancing.. almost was ready to throw them away and get a new set.... Found a good refurb, new tyres and then balancing and the wobble is now all sweet

Slightly off topic, have your tyres got any coloured dots on the sidewall?,if so they can indicate a 'light' point in the tyre, the dot should be aligned to the valve to make balancing easier.

tyre make / quality might also be an issue here, cheap tyres are a nightmare at times, and as already said spiggot rings too....

I 'borrowed' the info from here as balancing isn't a big thing on buses!,but the post did put a dim light on in my brain.

I had a badly buckled front wheel. When the wheel was on the front, once i hit around 60-65 mph the steering wheel vibrated wildly. I didnt know that it was the buckle causing this until i went to get 2 new front tyres, and when the guy was balancing them we could clearly see the buckle. It wasn't that the balancing was just picking it up, it was plain to see, it was that bad!!! He then swapped my front wheel with one from the back and when i drove away it was like driving a new car. As a result i concluded that the buckle had to have been affecting the steering even at low speeds, and when i got the veccy on the motorway i couldn't even feel the buckled wheel once it had been moved to the rear. I have since had it fixed as a buckle leads to un-even tyre wear (and the thought of it being buckled would do my head in) however i was informed to always keep it on the back!!!
