Towbar- cannot get rid of the "Check trailer rear lamp" even after coding
Hi All,
2004 Signum 1.9CDTi Elite. Towbar fitted (7 pin socket only) and the car has been coded as follows-
DIS
Set Check Control To Present
Set Towbar To Present
IPC
If the module Identifier is "0x0***", then Set Towbar To Present
The REC has not been coded, as the light board does not have a fog or a reverse light on it.
Everything appears to work, all the lights on the board function correctly. The indicators flash at the right rate, the icon on the instrument cluster appears when the indicators flash, everything is good.
Except i keep getting the "Check trailer rear lamp" warning on the display and the bulb check light in the cluster.
Things i have tried-
Turning off 'check control' in the DIS. Whenever i set it to 'not present' and then program, it resets to present. I've tried turning the towbar off, saving, setting check control, and it still now defaults to present. There have been many key offs, key ons of the car, and many program shut downs and resets so i'm confident its not a hardware issue.
I've also tried reverting everything back to as before, and re doing it.
I've tried setting the trailer brake lights to led with no effect.
Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?
Matt

Come again, what can/does tech2 to that opcom can't. Its never failed me before.
What needs to be set to get my setup to work properly? Is it check control to not present?

There are a huge number of things that Opcom either cannot do, or does incorrectly compared to Tech2. You have to remember that Opcom is based on reverse engineering Tech 2, so there are various functions that may have worked on the car that feature was tested with, but as it isn't necessarily doing it the way Tech2 does, won't always work on every car.
For the more common settings, yes, Opcom works just fine. But for the more unusual ones, it can be unreliable or even dangerous, resulting in modules locking out or failing completely.
There's a reason it's not discussed too much on this forum.

Is the trailer or light bar new ?
If not I'd change the bulbs.
When you say 'check trailer lamp' is it actually bulb specific lie Trailer RH Tail?

Has your trailer board got reversing lights on it ?
I get that type of message although mine does say reversing lights specifically, my software (CID Display) does identify which bulb is out on a bulb failure, however, if your software doesn't then it's probably the reversing lights.

Light board is new.
No specific left or right side, simply check trailer rear lamp, with a picture of both rear lamps.
No reverse light (or fog light) on the board, hence why I haven't enabled them in the rec

Aha !
Right about now I'd pull all the bubs out of one side of the light bar and see what messages you get
I suspect tails have been run from the same wire but the indicator will be the one to watch!
