    Default Common Faults.....

    We have here a list of common faults which are mostly fixed under warranty, most of the newer cars have had these problems ironed out now. The list is to help owners identify problems and not intended to put you off the car !


    Symptom
    Knocking from front of car
    Fault
    Radiator mounts worn or Front suspension fault caused by bad fitting spring ends.
    Fix.
    Warranty fix available, either new radiator mounts or plastic end cap fitted to springs

    Symptom
    Knocking from rear of car.
    Fault
    Shock absorber leaking.
    Fix.
    New rear shocks required, some garages will fix under warranty others have refused.

    Symptom
    Safeguard fault displayed.
    Fault
    Numerous Causes, most likely Module failure
    Fix
    Warranty Fix. Trace and replace faulty Module

    Symptom
    Chrome door trim discolours.
    Fault
    Badly manufactured chrome Trims.
    Fix.
    Trim only replaced by warranty in year 1. Vauxhall may do ‘share-cost’ replacment in yrs 2 & 3

    Symptom
    Rattling Tailgate
    Fault
    Rear hatch catch loose
    Fix.
    Rear catch for bootlid needs adjusted, will be done under warranty.

    Symptom
    Rattling Rear Pillar
    Fault
    Spot Weld missing from Factory production
    Fix.
    Warranty Fix, Panels riveted together by dealer

    Symptom
    Poor Headlights
    Fault
    Poor bulbs fitted as standard
    Fix
    Upgrade to blue vision or equivelant bulbs.

    Symptom
    Xenons not self leveling
    Fault
    Software
    Fix
    Dealer will upgrade software via Tech2

    Symptom
    Service light keeps coming on.
    Fault
    Instrument cluster in cars manufactured 03
    Fix
    New instrument cluster required, Vauxhall reluctant to replace, a lot of pressure needed.

    Symptom
    Cruise control failure
    Fault
    Spring on clutch pedal failed
    Fix
    New spring on clutch pedal under warranty

    Symptom
    Fog lights mist up
    Fault
    Poor quality lights used
    Fix
    Will be fixed under warranty if they stay misted for 20 mins.

    Symptom
    Power failure
    Fault
    Alternator
    Fix
    Alternator replaced under warranty

    Symptom
    Interior lights fail
    Fault
    Light control unit failed
    Fix
    Replace light control unit, will be done under warranty

    Symptom
    Flickering display on dash
    Fault
    Alternator cannot cope with demand
    Fix
    None available

    Yes, nice one Bainie, that should help a number of people out.

    I'll also be adding a more technical section on Common Faults that will delve into a number of those problems, and more, in more technical depth. Watch out for that.

    Had to get VX to do the rear pillar, front n/s suspension noise and n/s fog on my vec. All done under warranty.

    lol...now dont get me started.......
    sort of tried to forget about all the niggles and hastles and just 'live' with the car!
    apart from the obvious probs I've suffered, not had any for a while...touch wood...althought the exhaust is blowing a bit especially from cold..is this covered by yr2 warranty?

    *lol* We are in the same boat mate, I don`t think the exhaust is covered, a good excuse for a funky new one though...

    I must be lucky, had none of the faults listed; having said that mine is an ex Vx fleet demonstrator, so must have all been sorted by Vx in the 8 months they had it before me.
