confused Saloon visibilty VS Hatch Visibility

I have been meaning to post about this for a while now. Having changed from a hatch to a saloon the first thing i noticed (apart from the seemingly smaller boot, before someone says it) was the increase in rear visibilty. I dont mean in the rear view mirror but when looking over your shoulder. I dont know why, as i sort of expected the opposite (with that big chunk of metal where the rear quarter panel should be) but i'm not imagining it (i think). In my eyes this is one big plus for the saloon over the hatch as i always thought the rear vis in the hatch left a lot to be desired.

For those of you driving the hatch i know you will think i'm talking through my a**e but take a spin in a saloon and see what i mean. You WILL be surprised!!!

Anyway i'm about to put an end to this as i'm getting rear tints so thats all that extra visibility gone

the boots the same size just a smaller entry.

the rear view is the same it just looks bigger because the rear screen is more uprite.

its not just out the rear screen i'm talking about. It's when you do that wee glance over over your left sholuder, looking out the side, EG:when pulling back into the inside lane (although lets face it thats not to often ) and especially when reversing!!!
ditchp i didnt really notice it on my test drive either. Its only now that i own and know the car like the back of my hand, the same way i knew my hatch, that i have really noticed it.

i tend to agree with this as over the years i have driven many saloons and hatches, one of my younger bro's has a vectra st and i had a vec hatch, astra hatch, vec est and cant see a difference in any of them to be honest, and i picked up th st from essex and drove it back to notts went down in astra, (only thing different there was more grunt to play with)
