    Default I've Made A Decision

This is going to be my last Vx for a while, I'm not happy with the quality of the car and it certainly isn't what I call a Vx product, I think I'm going to have to live with it another 12 mths, but after that I'm going to defect, if I felt it was just my car being a pain I'd accept that, but lets not kid ourselves, this is a poor product from what is normally a top marque.

I defected when I got rid of my Vectra B and bought an Audi A4 a couple of years ago. I have since returned to the Vauxhall fold. The dealers are as bad as ever something I never experienced with an Audi although they certainly removed more of your money.

I also found the Audi peeps not such a friendly bunch and missed meetings and roadtrips etc.

What are you going for now???

I didn't expect my VX to be top notch - you get what you pay for - as is life...

If you want quality pay for it....surely?!

Up till now, I've pretty well had bullet proof cars from Vx, my gripe isn't so much things go wrong, as this can happen whatever car you get, but some of the parts are failing at very low milages, and that's what really is bothering me, I don't think 4 rear arms, two steering arms and a top bush is good enough in a car thats done less than 40k, that's right, rear arms @ 17k, and now again at 38k.

    TOTALLY disagree.

A 15 p BIC pen is a quality item, so is a £10 Parker pen.
A £1 digital watch off the market is a quality item, so is a £2500 Rolex.

Quality = conformance to specification, cost doesn't come into it.

Clearly the above examples are correct, BUT the specification for the extreme examples are different. The £1 digi watch keeps great time = quality item. The Rolex probably keeps worse time then the digi (in honesty) but has a completely different appeal and market = quality item. Both conform to their respective specifications and are therefore quality items.

    Cost doesn't come into it.

Cost is more derived from the spec and features, and quality to the conformance to these specs.

Don't confuse quality with value for money or durability.

However, yes the old addage 'you get what you pay for' is also right, as the Spec is probably higher on a more expensive item (not always true of course), eg 'Snap on' tools and Taiwan imports. The Snap on last longer and are more durable because the material / tolerance / design spec is higher (and therefore cost more)

Hope this clears up a few misconceptions.

I've had a rolex and it gained 4 seconds every day.... !!!

When I queried it with Rolex they said thats perfectly acceptable for a mechanical watch, and so long as it was +/- 7 seconds each day, it was deemed to be accurate.

Pile of ****.. Watch doesnt tell the time accurately. Still like them though

And the Rolex needed to be serviced regularly at £175 a go...

EDIT: anyway, a BIC pen is a quality pea shooter !!

Double Edit: Also, I've known friends who have purchased expensive cars and had problems:-

    - Mercedes AMG (Complained about fan heater stopped working, rattles from dashboard, tyre wear)
    - Aston Martin DB7 (Complained about roof leaking, Aston gave him a towel (seriously !!))
    - Lambourghini Diablo (Complained about shut lines, body panels not lining up)
