agree - i use Megs and live in a hard water area.

i don't think any shampoo will stop you getting water spots though. to avoid that you need to dry the car not long after it has been washed.

or what you can do is buy the Flash car wash system and use the 'filtered' water side of it to do a final rinse of the car. i know the flash system is quite expensive for what it is.

you could also invest in an in-line water hose filter which does the same thing as the flash system. i think they cost around 40 quid but i would expect them to last alot longer. again, by plugging this in using hoselock connectors you could easily just use it at the very end of your car wash.

i think the cheapest alternative though is to buy some Mequiars Quick Detailer and spray some onto each panel just before you go to dry it, i find it's much easier to soak up the water that way and less likely to inflict swirls in your car.

if you want to go down the Meguiars Quick Detailer route then they should sell them in your local Halfords, and i've heard that there is a 3 for 2 offer on all the cleaning range

Hi cheers for that, I'll stick with Meg. NXT although i did use the flash car wash system on my old car worked wonders but causes swirl marks. I'd just stick with the advice using the "Two bucket" wash method, one for rinsing wash mitt or sponge the other for body work.I'll keep pestering my dad to fit a filter system since he's a plumber but they never seem to touch their own equipment, just as i work as a cycle mechanic part time but barely touch my own bike if it goes wrong although i know what to do lol! The 3 for 2 is on AG only but i'll march down to my local Halfrauds (Halfords aka) and do some serious shopping. Many ThanksVS

the 3 for 2 is on all cleaning products - not just the AG.

how did the flash system cause swirls?

    Thumbs up

I use Megs Gold Class Wash - then use the quick detailer spray and finally microfibre cloths to remove any water residue.

Nice and easy - leaves you time to polish and or wax afterwards.

P.S - going to Halfords tomorrow to stock up!

    Cheers for the tip off

    Hi guys,

What you want is Megs Shampoo Plus it's one of the best auto shampoo's out there and only costs £11 for a gallon.

Also when using any auto shampoo remember it's important to stick to the maufacturers instructions because adding too much will cause problems with streaking, in so far as Shampoo Plus goes it says iirc to add 120ml but I only add 90ml to a bucket of warm water.

As Harry says using QD will aide drying although Megs Last Touch is a better product and is cost effective being only £15 again for a gallon it can also be diliuted 1-1 when using as a clay lube

If you want details of a supplier who's prices are the lowest in the UK then drop me an email: - mrblr123@yahoo.co.uk
