    Default Broken gear knob

Hi all. I've noticed a while now my 2008 vec cdti gear knob has felt very slightly loose, and last night the gear knob came off all together , I'm sure this is a simple fix but wanted to know best way to get it back on correctly. Thanks

once its worn its worn - you can bang it back on - but it will eventually pop off. Most people superglue it back on - make sure the reverse mechanism still works - I don't think you can put it any lower than it was though. For a less permanent fix, some have put a bit of card in, to make the hole size smaller so it fits tighter again

The proper fix would be to buy a whole new gear stick

As above. Once it pops off once, chances are it's just going to keep doing it. I just used a very small amount of Sikaflex adhesive that I had lying about to secure mine back on and it's been fine ever since.

I tried to knock it back on with my hand but I'm guessing I'll need a soft blow hammer maybe. Or I'll look for a vxr gear knob and change it for that

yeah - dont hit it too hard or the plastic but with the gear info will crack - i used the palm of my hand.

You should also have a spring and a foam that goes inside too - maybe they fell out too and its looser than it should be.

vxr gear nob sounds good for a change mate

    Default spring and foam

Hi, I know this is a old post , I had this problem happen to me today , I did try to tap it back on but it kept coming off so I took the spring and foam out and put some silver foil over the stick and tapped it on again it stayed on but I found It hard to get into 1st and second gear , what I would like to know is what does the spring and foam do and is that the reason I am now finding it hard to find the 1st and second gear, Also could someone help me out and post a link on ebay to a new knob so I have a idea what to look for.
    Thanks ….
