    Default warning light,unable to turn steering wheel

    Hope someone can advise me on this.Went to start up the vec yesterday, turned key and all seemed well, then on the warning panell an amber picture of what appeared to be a steering wheel with an exclamation mark came up and i was unable to turn the steering wheel .Turned of the engine and restarted and all was ok.Any advise greatly appreciated,just hoping this is nothing seriouse about to go wrong,thanx

    its more than likey just a software fault steve, However if it does re-occur, take off the front bumperskin and look at the electrical connectors on the pumpmotor located under the driver side headlamp.. examine the connectors for any corrision and re assemble with a little petroleum jelly to fight against any more possible corrision..

    for a one off,( that fixed itself by turning off and on again) then i'd say software fault..

    This has happened to quite a few of vectra c owners, it's caused by something not registering correctly when you switch the ignition on.
    It happened to me one morning a few months ago, I restarted the car and since then it has never happened again.

    Its not just VX either. Exactly the same thing happened to wifeys new Ford Focus TDI Sport. (I know. I Know!! the F word!)
