Default Brake Bulb... Is this a Record?

On Way back from Darlington this Morning - Computer flashes up that my O/S rear Brake Bulb is faulty... Cool graphics on Computer but not happy!

Only covered 13K and a Bulb has gone - Not being stingy as they are cheap to replace (Will do the pair of course). But should bulbs go this quick? I know Bulbs can fail at any time - but out of all the new cars I have had this is a record! Any thoughts? P.S mines an Auto - does this make any diff as the Brakes seem to be used more.

10K for me from new bulb (Halfords bulb)
Funny story on these as the car was service the day it was handed over to me and the N/S one failed the same day lol. Also had an MOT on Sat and on driving out of the testing bay after a sucessful test the N/S colour graphic was displayed saying failure, again LOL.

Mine covered something like 35,000 miles before a bulb went, so your 13,000 is not a record.

I think he was meaning a record as in for the shortest time for a bulb lasting.

My last Astra blew the driver's side brake bulb at least once a week. Sometimes a bulb would last less than a day. Never did figure out why, even replaced the whole light unit and still it ate bulbs.

    Oh the irony.....

To be honest, I had got that. I was just being obtuse.

as you may already know the Vectra's brake light failure system is quite clever in that if a brake light bulb fails it will use the second tail light resulting in one brake light being one bulb higher than the other. You also should have a 'spare' bulb in the slot where the near side (IIRC) fog light is ... all the bulbs in the rear light clusters are 12v 20w so can be used interchangeably.
