    Default Hi everyone!

Hi guys (n gals!) - brand new owner here! Spent the last year deciding what to trade the 2002 325ti beemer for (new baby coming SOON, and the BM is not baby-friendly!!). Called at the local dealers on Thursday to have our first look at a veccy and 2 hours later it was ours!! Sod the Mondeo!!

Spent the last year thinking I wanted headlight washers, leather seats, multichangers et al, and came out with a bog standard 06 SRi Nav!! Having said that it was the CDTi 150

Now looking at all the mods you guys have done, can't believe all the info I wanted was on this one site!! New front and rear interior light unit coming from LMF already Next on my list will be rear parking sensors (somehow!!) and all the other things the SRi doesn't have that the BM did!! You never know what you have till it's gone (mainly auto dim rear mirror - must get that one somehow!!).

One thing I'd mention - I thought trading the 325ti in would be like a step down (192hp and perfect 50:50 distribution). but the veccy is a verrrrry close second to the BM!! The 150 CDTi is great and almost as fast as the BM (it was an auto), yet returns >20mpg more!!!! I've got 49mpg over 200 miles this weekend, and I've not been light-footed! Plus the boot in the BM was about as big as the veccy's glovebox!!

Hope to see you all around!!

P.S. Does anyone know if you can just wire in some parking sensors salvaged from a write off to the rear loom on a 06 facelift? I've got my feelers out and will be trawling here to find the possibilities!!

hi and welcome to the site mate....

there is a bit more to cars equipped with park pilot than just the sensors..so it's a no, really...

but aftermarket kits are avaliable for about £30 that will come with all the bits..

    Default Hi Mate

I can recomend the CDTi 150....cracking motor,

I purchased a set of aftermarket sensors on ebay, and colour coded my self, don't look to bad "IMO"

Just remember to take your time measuring, Because once you start drilling..there's no going back

Some Vecs have the blanks marked on the back of the rear bumper for positioning, but i didn't find this out till afterwards

Becareful with some aftermarket kits, as the sensors dont work if they have been painted, should say in the instuctions if they can be painted or not.

Thanks for all the friendly (and speedy) responses!

I don't want to turn this into a parking sensor thread (there are so many here already!), but all the threads I've read suggest different kits. I read the posts about the Bosch kit, but can't find them in the UK (so far), and I'm sceptical about ebay kits.

I like Ralph's post (mainly cos it looks like silver lightning, and that's my colour). What few people mention is what they did with the monitor that comes with many of these kits. I can live without the sensors, but the wife is s*** scared of the size of the veccy () and really could do with them!! However she won't want an aftermarket plasticky box on the dash, so it'll have to be beeps only (a la the BM). So I want a kit that beeps nicely
