    Default Serial Port Remaps

I notice that a number of tuning companies such as BSR (PPC) and REVO (SPS) do serial port programmers, where you can upload a number of maps, or switch between standard and performance maps by using a small device that plugs in to the OBDII diagnostics port. Prior to any service, you can go back to standard at the flick of a switch, this then leaves a remap almost undetectable when the car is in for service.

Is there any company working towards this for the 1.9 CDTi or is there some problem with the way the new ECU's communicate prevent this from being done?

most of the 'flashmaps' via the OBDII port on the 1.9 are permanent.. this is due to the different way the ECU's work on the diesels rather than on the petrols..

I don't know of anyone who swaps back and forth on their diesel maps..

if it's warranty you're worried about then have you thought about a VXPC/888 remap?.. it won't affect your VX warranty..

A friend of mine has shown me the system he uses in his Golf TDi 4Motion by revo : REVO SPS

I like the idea of removing the map altogether when it goes in for a service or someone else is driving.

I am hearing may conflicting stories about the warranty issues with VXRP / 888 remaps. Can anyone be conclusive about Vauxhall still honoring the warranty or is a split, where VXRP only warranties any issues caused by the remap.

I know it is rare that problems happen, but I don't want to be stuck between Vauxhall and VXRP arguing over what caused the failure.
