    Default front passenger airbag

    Hi all,

Just wondering if there is a way to disable the front passenger airbag on a 2003 '03' vectra sri 2.2

    TIA

Tech 2 I think is the only way. There aren't any fuses that refer to airbags so I don't think pulling a fuse is an option.

I'm guessing it's to put a baby seat in the front seat? You may be able to get your dealer to disable it for you. Obviously it means it will be off if you have a passeneger in the front seat at any time.

Is it just a warning that is on the dash then, never read it and thought it was instructions on how to switch it off, must be able to somehow, I thought you could switch them off in all cars, as obviously you thiought as well, especially a family car !!

on the mother-in-laws peugeot, there was a turnscrew switch in the Glove box (which the door/ignition key fitted) to switch it off.

It was similar to the 'child lock' switched in the current veccy doors.

You only need to switch it off if it's a rear facing baby seat .

put the baby seat in the rear , far safer then the front seat even with the airbag disabled,

accidents have shown this to be tru,

    ps,,
    it is automatic anyway,

if the belt is pluged into the retainer ( around the seat ) the seat detects there is no weight in the seat ( compared to a passenger ) and disables the front passenger airbag, this is shown by the lamp indicating in the dash to tell you it has been disabled while the belt is pluged in,

this obviously reverts back to normal when the belt is unpluged and a normal passenger uses it

    Hmmm,

    I currently have

    1 x 5 year old
    1 x 3 year old
    1 x 1 week old
    1 x wife

configurations please!!!! Anyone who mentions a people carrier will be flamed to within an inch of their sad lives!!!! If i wanted to be a bus driver, i'd make sure i got paid for it...

currently 3 year old in front = stereo max vol, ashtray open, ciggie lighter on, front pass window open etc etc!! Kid won't leave anything alone, so safer with newborn in front!
