Hi can anyone confirm what i need to blank the egr cooler as i believe mine is leaking , and also is it ok to blank it at the manifold and then leave it in place or is it best completely removed ? Thanks

If its leaking it would be best to remove it, this will show you how, kinda...

I've had all my blanking plates from a seller called "Tamfet" on ebay, they are all thick good quality steel.

I'm in the process of blanking mine off as well.........

It's a massive pain in the backside!

For me, I found the bolts on the exhaust manifold were a pig to reach and were seized solid. I kept spraying penetrating oil on them periodically for a couple of days. Eventually, I managed to get them. Even had to strip the front bumper when I dropped a hex key!

I stripped the exhaust piping that went to the cooler. The front clamp was a pig to reach, but I managed it eventually. The rear pipe was a doddle to remove, but I had to take the throttle body off first.

It is possible to get the exhaust parts off without stripping much off the car. Only needed to remove EGR and Throttle body.

To get to the coolant hoses and get cooler out would probably take a fair bit more effort!

Sorry, just thought I'd share my experiences with it. Good luck!

I have already managed to get the bolts out and have added a tempory blank just to see if i resolved my problem which it did so i can only assume it has a slight leak somewere , thanks for the link i will take a look , if i removed the whole thing can the original bolts be used to secure blanking plates or do i need shorter ones ? And also is the egr blank for the manifold exactly the same as the blank for the for inlet on the egr valve ? As the tempory one i made was just a square with the 2 holes thanks

You can re use the old bolts. Although I used 2 strut top bolts for my manifold blanking plate, then for the EGR side, cut off the oval pipe collar with the threads in, can used this and the egr bolts to clamp the EGR black in place.

Mines mapped out but I left it in place. Some maps you can remove, others leave it in and electrically conected. But connected up all the old bolts fit... If you remove it withough a map it could either trigger the EML light or fire into limp mode.

Can you explain what you mean by "fire into limp mode"........Do you mean it might start up and go straight into limp mode?

I'm having a few weird problems with mine. EGR is blanked, but not mapped out.

    Cheers.
