Default Curtain airbags and mike cables

Just read a comment in another thread about curtain airbags and made me wonder about the running of a car kit mike cable up the A post and across to the rear view mirror position.

Mine is currently tucked behind the rubber seal on the passenger side, then its tucked behind the top of the interior panel of the A post where it meets the headlining and tucked up behind the front of the headlining.

Is this route OK/correct? Will it interfere with the airbags at all? Do the airbags only run in the sections directly above the doors?

The airbag runs down the A post as well, the cable won't affect the deployment, but if it is deployed it would break the cable, the least of your worries if you've set the side airbag off!

Thanks - I guess if the airbag did go off I'd have one or two other things on my mind!

I had the aerial lead for the TV running up the A frame and the aerial itself stuck on the window running down the side of it.
When the airbags went off (major crash!) it did make a mess of the wiring and the aerial but as the car was a total loss there was not much point worrying about it then

You should not cross the air bag with a cable what so ever regardless if it would snap or not, who knows if it will? The curtain air bag is designed to go off instantly to cushion any side impact of your head against the pillar. Next time you're sat in the car look up at the pillar & imagine hitting it with your head.
For the no extra hassle it is thinking about routing a cable could save the passengers life.
By the sounds of how you've run yours it is simple tucked under the rubber running up the A pillar, routed round the top of the A pillar then up under the roof lining. Where you're routed it round the top you have cut across the deployment area for the airbag.
On the Vectra two safe ways of doing it is to remove the pillar & gaffer tape the cable down the pillar above the airbag or similarly to how you have but with a bent wire coat hanger, at the top of the A pillar push it up behind the air bag. With a small hook bent in the end catch the mic cable & pull it back through BEHIND the airbag.

Thanks. When I get it back from the stealers I'll sort it - I've got to change the kit soon as I'm getting a new phone anyway.
