Default Received a parcel today, not happy!

Further to my topic about winning an SRi steering wheel off Ebay,

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...4314&rd=1&rd=1

I recieved the wheel today, well, my brother did on my behalf, now baring in mind I paid the seller £15 for p&p, that he advertised as "Other courier"

Recieved a phonecall off my brother to tell me the wheel had arrived but that he had a feeling I would not be impressed, so I arrived home from work today to discover this is what I got for my £15 P&P charge...

Yes, that's right, an unboxed item, covered with cling film, unsealed, sent via royal mail standard parcel service for £5.31

    I'm furious!!

I paid the guy straight away and he even left me + feedback!

Needless to say I've already sent him a message via ebay, the following....

    Hi,

I was the winner of the Vectra C SRi steering wheel you were selling, I've just recieved the steering wheel today, I'm a little upset as to the quality/standard of the postage and packing you supplied, I paid you £15.00 for the Postage of this item that you described as "Other courier" when infact you paid £5.31 for the Royal mail standard parcel service, are you willing to refund me the difference that you saved in P&P?

    Kevin

    Does that sound reasonable enough?

I'll post up when he replies

Sounds more than reasonable. He could of at least used some of your postage money to find a box of some description.

    Is the wheel damaged ?

If not I would dispute his charge of £15 and ask for a part postage refund.

If it was well packed and the actual cost was £5.31, IMO a P&P charge of around 7 quid would have been about right as it would have covered packaging materials.

I haven't opened it yet, I suppose I've got my photographic evidence so there's no reason not to open it?

Whats done is done, you can hardly mail it back to him to get him to do it properly again. You've emailed him, you may get something back, you may not. But its friday so dont let it ruin your weekend! Get it fitted with a nice How 2!

I would have also pointed out that sending it in see thru packaging would have made it more at risk of going missing had someone handling it have thought they could use or sell it on - took an unecessary risk there - though not wishing to suggest Royal Mail employees are dishonest of course!

Yeah, just on opening it now mate, what a positive attitude

I've been told it won't work with my car anyway, so looks like once I get this postage issue sorted it'll be going back up for sale!

the thing is though, I know that all this canbus b ollocks raises compatibility issues with certain things, but with a steering wheel, surely the way it attaches to the car and the way the switches plug in will be exactly the same in both facelift and pre-facelift cars? and it's not like the computer can throw up a fault for the steering wheel?

And yes Pingu I thought that too mate!
